What Night Shift Differential Actually Pays
Any hour you work between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM earns an extra 10% on top of the rate that already applies to that hour under the Labor Code. It is not a company perk — it is a statutory entitlement for rank-and-file employees. Excluded from this specific provision are managerial employees, officers or members of a managerial staff, field personnel whose hours can't be determined with reasonable certainty, family drivers and domestic helpers (kasambahay, who have their own separate law), and government employees.
NSD stacks multiplicatively, not additively
If your night hours also fall on overtime or a holiday, the 10% is applied on top of the rate that already includes those premiums — not on top of your plain hourly rate. Adding 30% (overtime) + 10% (NSD) + 100% (holiday) and calling it 140% extra understates what's owed; each premium compounds on the rate carried over from the one before it.
