How your SSS contribution is worked out

SSS doesn't take a percentage straight off your payslip. It first maps your salary onto a Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) — a bracket between ₱5,000 and ₱35,000 for 2026, rounded to the nearest ₱500. Your contribution is then a fixed 15% of that bracket, split 5% from you and 10% from your employer.

That means two people earning ₱34,800 and ₱35,500 pay the exact same contribution — both round into the top ₱35,000 bracket. It also means raises past ₱35,000 don't raise your SSS deduction at all; the ceiling caps it.

Quick Answers to Common Questions

Why is my payslip deduction different from this number?
This tool shows the standard employed-member contribution. Voluntary, self-employed, and OFW members follow the same MSC table but choose their own bracket, so their contribution can differ from what a fixed salary would map to.
Does my employer's share come out of my pay?
No. Only the employee share is deducted from your salary. The employer share is an additional cost your employer pays on top of your salary, remitted together with yours.
