How to Register with Pag-IBIG Fund (HDMF) in 2026

Getting your Pag-IBIG MID number through Virtual Pag-IBIG — the Registration Tracking Number, required documents, and paths for employees, self-employed, OFWs, and non-working spouses.

By Sahod PH

Pag-IBIG Fund membership (formally the Home Development Mutual Fund, or HDMF) is what stands between you and a housing loan, an MP2 savings account, or a short-term multi-purpose loan down the line. Membership is mandatory for most working Filipinos, and like SSS and PhilHealth, it's a one-time registration that follows you for life through a single Membership ID (MID) number.

Registration is free and now largely self-service through Virtual Pag-IBIG, the fund's online portal. Here's what the process actually looks like for each type of member.

  • 1 MID number per person, for life
  • RTN Registration Tracking Number issued after signup
  • 0 Registration fee — it's free
  • ₱200 Typical minimum monthly contribution

What You'll Need

  • A valid government-issued ID (PhilSys National ID, passport, UMID, driver's license, or similar)
  • A valid email address and active mobile number
  • Your full legal name, birth date, and address as they appear on your ID
  • For employed members: your employer's Pag-IBIG Employer ID Number, if available
  • For self-employed/OFW/non-working spouse members: proof of income or, for a non-working spouse, the working spouse's own MID number

Step-by-Step: Registering via Virtual Pag-IBIG

  1. Go to the Virtual Pag-IBIG portal and choose the registration option for new members.
  2. Fill out the online registration form with your personal details, contact information, and employment status.
  3. Select your member type — Employed, Self-Employed, OFW, Non-Working Spouse, or Voluntary/Separated member.
  4. Submit the form. The system generates a Registration Tracking Number (RTN) immediately — save this. It's your reference number while the application is being processed.
  5. Wait for MID number generation. Once validated, Pag-IBIG issues your permanent Membership ID number, which you can retrieve online using your RTN or through your Virtual Pag-IBIG account once activated.
  6. Set up your Virtual Pag-IBIG online account using your MID number to view your contribution history, apply for loans, and manage your MP2 savings later on.

Keep your RTN until you have your MID number

The RTN is not the same as your final MID number — it's a temporary tracking reference for an application still being processed. Don't discard it after submitting; you may need it to check status or resolve an issue before your permanent number is issued.

Registering as an Employee

New hires are often registered by their employer's HR or payroll team as part of onboarding, since employers report new employees under their own Pag-IBIG Employer ID. If you're starting a first job, ask HR whether they've already registered you before creating a separate Virtual Pag-IBIG account — doing both risks a duplicate MID number that later needs manual consolidation.

Registering as Self-Employed, OFW, or Non-Working Spouse

These categories register through the same Virtual Pag-IBIG form but select a different member type, with a few differences:

  • Self-employed members declare their own monthly income and are responsible for remitting both the "employer" and "employee" share of contributions themselves.
  • OFWs register under a dedicated OFW membership type, which — beyond enabling regular contributions — also determines eligibility for OFW-specific loan and Modified Pag-IBIG II (MP2) programs while working abroad.
  • Non-working spouses need the working spouse's MID number and consent as part of the application, since the registration is tied to the working spouse's membership record.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Multiple registrations. If you contributed briefly through a past employer and forgot your MID number, retrieve it through Virtual Pag-IBIG rather than registering fresh — a second MID number complicates future loan applications.
  • Mismatched personal details. Small discrepancies between your registration form and your ID (a missing middle initial, a different spelling) can delay MID number issuance.
  • Not linking a new employer. Changing jobs doesn't automatically transfer your contribution record to a new employer's payroll — make sure your new HR reports your existing MID number rather than treating you as a fresh registrant.

Key Takeaways

  • Pag-IBIG registration is free and done through Virtual Pag-IBIG, with a Registration Tracking Number (RTN) issued immediately and a permanent MID number issued after processing.
  • Employees are often registered by their employer — check with HR before registering yourself to avoid duplicates.
  • Self-employed, OFW, and non-working spouse members use dedicated registration paths with slightly different requirements.
  • Once registered, use the Pag-IBIG Contribution Calculator to check your expected monthly contribution.
